Irish helmer tapped for action/thriller adaptation!
Robert Schwentke has signed on to direct the adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND for Summit Entertainment. Story centers on a man, who on the eve of an annual weekend getaway with friends, is told that his friends are not who they seem. And after people start turning up dead, he finds himself trapped in a downward spiral of doubt, paranoia and ultimately, a desperate fight to stay alive long enough to figure out who he can trust and who may be out to kill him.
Summit Entertainment’s THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND remake will have a new draft done by Jesse Wigutow. Simon Kinberg wrote the previous draft, and was previously attached to direct.
Logline: Story centers on a man, who on the eve of an annual weekend getaway with friends, is told that his friends are not who they seem. And after people start turning up dead, he finds himself trapped in a downward spiral of doubt, paranoia and ultimately, a desperate fight to stay alive long enough to figure out who he can trust and who may be out to kill him.
Hearing Robert Schwentke (hot off RED) and Summit Entertainment (hot off printing money) have mutually expressed interest in the director stepping aboard THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND remake, currently adapted by Simon Kinberg.
With Schwentke onboard there would be a fast-track to get another pass (or writer) on to polish, and to begin looking at cast for an early 2011 start.
