The in-demand director has already been signed to direct a live action retelling of The Little Mermaid for Universal, John Green’s Looking for Alaska at Paramount and a movie based on a James Wan graphic novel Malignant at Fox.

In order to get an editor to read her manuscript, a recent college graduate takes a job as Walker Reade’s assistant, where she must help him complete his latest novel.

The Little Mermaid may have found a new director as Rebecca Thomas is in early talks to helm the film. She replaces previously attached Sofia Coppola.

The pic follows a teen who abandons his boring life when he arrives at the Culver Creek Boarding School, finding danger, adventure, and excitement after he befriends the gorgeous/funny Alaska Young, who pushes his life into a new direction.

Logline: Fifteen-year-old Miles Halter goes to a new boarding school looking for adventure–but an unexpected tragedy throws his new life into turmoil.

Logline: A girl from a strict fundamentalist community discovers a forbidden rock and roll tape and upon listening to it, claims to be pregnant via immaculate conception and travels to Las Vegas in search of the musician from the tape.

Logline: The classic story centers on a young mermaid who gives up her life in the sea to gain the love of a prince.
