Legal Affairs
Draft, negotiate, and manage the television department’s long form agreements including option/purchase agreements, co-production and co-financing agreements, production services agreements, pilot/series writer agreements, non-writing executive producer agreements, director agreements, and performer agreements.
Oversee series throughout all stages from script development through post-production and exhibition on Netflix’s global streaming service from a legal and, eventually, a business standpoint, with the ability to navigate through complex matters that arise during the production lifecycle.
Structure and negotiate complex agreements for all forms of “above-the-line” talent, including directors, writers, actors, and voice talent, as well as rights deals including novels, films and comic books. Work closely with executives and producers to put deals into place.
Negotiate all aspects of film agreements with talent agents and lawyers (including profit participation, rights agreements, co-production, and overall/first look deals) in direct liaison with the relevant stakeholders within the studio.
Structure and negotiate a wide variety of domestic and international film-related agreements including development, production, financing and distribution deals, talent agreements, releases, licenses, partnership deals, services agreements, consulting agreements, and option agreements.
Track deal contract negotiations, maintain status reports, maintain Legal Affairs department files, and support department operations.
Structure, draft and negotiate a high volume of above-the-line TV development and production deals, including deals for showrunning EPs, non-writing EPs, rights acquisitions, pilot directors, on-screen talent, etc.
Advise business partners with respect to legal rights and contractual responsibilities, guild agreements, intellectual property matters, claims and other matters arising out of the day-to-day production of film and television productions.
Assist with administrative duties, including preparation of meeting materials, answering phones, filing, photocopying, and messengering correspondence and documents.
Structure, draft and negotiate a high volume of above-the-line TV development and production deals, including deals for showrunning EPs, non-writing EPs, rights acquisitions, pilot directors, on-screen talent, etc.
Maintain calendars for multiple business affairs executives. Coordinate travel arrangements, both domestically and internationally for multiple business affairs executives.
Provide administrative assistance on a high-volume desk, including answering and managing calls, scheduling meetings and conference calls, and managing calendars and all other administrative assistance.
Provide strategic and practical support for corporate expansion both domestically and internationally.
Proofread, attach exhibits, manage and arrange for execution and distribution of agreements, including use of document management databases.
Hands-on experience with the operations, financial, business and legal aspects of an entertainment studio with room to grow in a tight-knit organization.
Duties include script coverage, updating databases, drafting correspondence, and viewing trailers, rough cuts, & finished films for research.
Responsibilities will include administration and handling certain corporate secretarial matters with legal support.
Interface directly with other senior executives and their support teams – your ability to work well with people on all levels is a very important part of your job. Review your leaders’ schedules to build-in time for focus and travel.

You should have excellent writing skills that will be necessary in conveying notes to writers, as well as, internal correspondence and projects. Candidate should be thoughtful, but proactive in every way possible.

Provide support throughout the production processes to ensure success during pre-production, production, and Post Production phases of a project.
Work closely with Production SVP, VPs, directors, managers, and Show production staff to examine the needs of each production.
Manage an active slate of development projects and actively support SVP live-action Series & Film in maintaining a pipeline of compelling, engaging and producible content.
Track and evaluate all incoming IP and provide written recommendations for development in the live action scripted space (including series, theatrical and ancillary revenue streams).
