Jake walks us through one of his own concepts, which would plant the seeds for STUBER written by Tripper Clancy.
Directed by Stephen Gaghan (Syriana), production for the Universal release has already begun in London with Downey joined by Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Harry Collett and Jim Broadbent.
Nanjiani will play a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu who picks up a grizzled cop (Bautista) and gets sucked into his hunt for a vicious killer. Can he survive the chase and keep his five-star rating intact?
Kathryn Bigelow was previously set to direct the film, which once had Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed attached to star. Bigelow is now producing alongside Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman, as well as director Pablo Larrain’s producing partner Juan de Dios Larraín.
Universal won the project in a competitive situation, and Ruben Fleischer will produce and direct from a script written by Girls scribe Murray Miller.
The moral of the story is if you have a hit movie this summer you get to host SNL.
