NBC has announced that Hairspray will be their fourth live musical event. This will mark the network’s fourth live musical following The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and the highly successful The Wiz. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are set to serve as executive producers of the live show. The two were also the producers of the 2007 Hairspray movie musical.

While the logline is under wraps, Lovejoy’s psychological thriller pitch has been in a fierce bidding war, with Universal coming out on top and getting Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star and executive produce.
