The director of “Bone Tomahawk” and master of the slow build genre flick puts Vaughn into one of the most brutal prison movies imaginable, then uses him again for his third film “Dragged Across Concrete.”

“This is exploitation fare served strong, and while it is the humanity of Vaughn’s performance that grounds the film and makes it something more than “just” exploitation, you still may need a shower afterwards,” writes Drew McWeeny.

One of the programmers of TIFF’s Midnight Madness is quoted as saying the film is “absolutely deranged,” and judging from Vaughn’s transformative turn here, it seems hard to argue.

Former Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter has signed on to star opposite Vince Vaughn in the indie thriller Brawl in Cell Block 99. Bone Tomahawk scribe and Hit List alum S. Craig Zahler is set to direct from his own script.

The Vince Vaughn-starring actioner has added three to its cast as it heads closer to production: Udo Kier, Fred Melamed, and Geno Segers will join Vaughn and previously cast Don Johnson in the thriller from Hit List alum S. Craig Zahler.
