The BAFTA Awards — which are essentially the across-the-pond-Oscars — were handed out this weekend and, to no surprise, Damien Chazelle’s musical La La Land cleaned up by picking up five trophies including Best Film, Best Actress, and Best Director.

With the Academy Awards nominations being revealed this week, any new critical attention a film can garner ahead of voting is more than welcome, and this year’s London Film Critics’ Awards definitely spread the wealth.

Right after taking home a record number of Golden Globes, Damien Chazelle’s La La Land once more came out on top with an astonishing 11 nominations for the BAFTAs. The British Academy also gave recognition to films from their own country, namely the Cannes-winner I, Daniel Blake.

Andrea Arnold’s American Honey has come out on top of the British Independent Film Awards with four wins at Sunday night’s event. The film won prizes in directing for Arnold, star Sasha Lane for acting, craft for Robbie Ryan, and top British Independent Film.

Manchester by the Sea is leading the Gotham Independent Film Awards as the nominees were announced today with four nominations including best feature. They will face off against Certain Women, Everybody Wants Some, Moonlight, and Paterson.
