The director of Me and Earl and the Dying GIrl will helm the biopic about the Canadian owner of some of New York City’s most notorious nightclubs in the ’90s.

Oscar Isaac is officially set to star in the political thriller A Foreigner at Paramount. Based on David Grann’s 2011 New York Times article, “A Murder Foretold”, the film will be directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.

Musician Tom Waits is to join Hulu’s Citizen. The drama pilot is set against the backdrop of a vibrant, ‘supernaturalized’ Los Angeles. It is a hero origin story, blending gritty vigilantism with elements of magical realism.

Working Title has picked up the rights to Delia Ephron’s novel Siracusa and tapped Me And Earl And The Dying Girl helmer Alfonso Gomez-Rejon to direct the project.

Follows a marriage and the deceit involved as two couples and a child head for vacation in the sun-drenched coast of the Ionian Sea in Italy.

The crime thriller is inspired by Gomez-Rejon’s experiences growing up in Laredo, Texas. Waypoint Entertainment, the shingle behind Shane Black’s The Nice Guys and Gus van Sant’s The Sea of Trees, is producing.
