The summertime spec market is heating up once again as red hot comedy BESTIES from scribes Cassie Daniels and Mark Bartosic makes its way into all major studios, with Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum and Valarie Phillips leading the charge. We’re also hearing there’s some serious A-list actresses and directors clamoring become friends with this one, which could spark some fireworks around the bidding in the coming days.

The comedy, pitched as Wild Hogs meets My Best Friend’s Wedding, centers on a woman who finds a long lost love note and sets off on a road trip with her three best friends to break up the wedding of her childhood crush.

After hitting the market on Tuesday, the script quickly found its way into the hands of some of Hollywood’s biggest producers. We now know that Ivan Reitman and his Montecito Picture Company – which has another female-driven comedy release hitting theaters this week, Ghostbusters – are taking this for Paramount, Universal, and Sony Screen Gems. Karen Rosenfelt and her Sunswept shingle are taking this for MGM and Fox 2000, while Broken Road has this into New Line, CBS, STX, and Covert.

With talent circling and industry heavyweights getting in the mix, there’s a good chance the pricetag for Besties could get pretty big before all is said and done.

We’ll keep you posted as the story develops…

We can confirm that the script is now into multiple territories, including:
