{FIRST GLANCE} Jared Leto Revealed As The Joker In Promo Photo For “Suicide Squad!”

Jared Leto is playing the classic DC Comics villain The Joker in the upcoming film SUICIDE SQUAD, directed by David Ayer. Until now, we’ve only gotten a tease in a snapchat revealing Leto’s face makeup. Here, we are given a promotional photo that fully reveals Leto’s look as the character.

Right off the bat, the look is purposely different from both Jack Nicholson’s and Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the character. This is understandable of course, but just how far is the new cinematic universe going to stray from the source material before it is too far?

The addition of tattoos to enforce the inner character of the Joker is interesting, but comes off as being a bit blunt in the image. We will have to see if the radical changes to the character pay off. There is no doubt of Leto’s ability to lose himself in a character. He is nearly unrecognizable here. I’ll give them that. The plusses here are the return of the light green hair, the chalk skin and the purple glove. The comic book colors are very evident. Now we have one half of the character, and will have to wait to hear the line deliveries.
