We’re happy to announce that Launch Pad Quarter-Finalist David Lawrance has been signed at Stacey Testro International! Lawrance’s Launch Pad entry The Lost Boys is a crime mystery that kept us turning pages… and then kept us up at night. Stacey Testro represents new horror gurus James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the team behind Saw and Insidious. Lawrance’s unique voice and penchant for atmospheric yet realistic creepiness will surely fit right in.

After starting his working life in film post-production, Lawrance was accepted into the screenwriting course at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in 2009.

Immediately after graduating, he was staffed on Australia’s number one television drama, Packed To The Rafters, and worked as a writer on various Australian dramas for 4 years. Inspired by the range of excellent television dramas being produced for in the U.S., he moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and began developing The Lost Boys.

A satisfying blend of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Insomnia, The Lost Boys is a serial killer mystery based on the real life unsolved hit-and-run death of Lawrance’s best friend in high school. The pilot never lets up on its thrilling conundrum, from a gripping beginning to an amazing twist ending. Not to mention it’s filled with intriguing, cinematic visuals that gave some of our readers nightmares—in the best way possible.

Lawrance marks the 79th writer signed in just the first two years of the Launch Pad Competition!
