Kendrick Tan of Lit Entertainment Group joins us once again and breaks down the emotionally charged story of Godwin Jabangwe and his pitch TUNGA. The animated musical would go on to spark an incredible bidding war between four separate studios, ultimately landing at Netflix for six-figures in Jabangwe’s first sale. The project was a part of the inaugural Imagine Impact program, founded by Imagine Entertainment’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Kendrick recounts what it was like meeting Jabangwe for the first time, championing him to explore a personal side to the story, and finding the meaning behind the narrative.
Kendrick Tan is a literary manager at Lit Entertainment Group. He works closely with writers to help elevate and craft compelling worlds, and his skill is evident in the number of his clients landing on the Young & Hungry, Black List and Hit List year after year. He’s remains one of the industry’s leading managers, having been part of some of the biggest spec sales such as the Launch Pad scripts T and The Beast. His clients have been staffed on numerous shows including CBS’s Blood & Treasure and Seal Team, DirectTV’s Ice, and The CW’s The Outpost.
