The Tracking Board, in partnership with The Script Lab, is excited to present another episode of ANATOMY OF A SALE. This week, we are joined by The Gotham Group’s Tony Gil as he takes you step-by-step through the process of selling a spec pilot, from the discovery and signing of a new writer, to building the right team for the pilot, and deciding which studio will be the right fit in order to stay true to the writer’s vision.
Tony is a manager/producer at The Gotham Group, where he manages screenwriters, authors, illustrators, and directors across Film, TV, and Animation. He started his career in CAA’s TV Department before moving to New York to work as a development coordinator for Barry Diller’s InterActive Corp. From there, he joined The Gotham Group, first as assistant to founder and CEO Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and then advancing to Literary Manager and Producer.
Anatomy of a Sale centers on the story behind the story, as in each episode we’ll hear from the industry’s top executives, representatives and writers chronicling their journey from the birth of a script to its eventual success. You’ll learn about the struggles of taking a project to market, the painstaking hours that go into breaking the narrative, the ups and downs of industry reception, and much more. So sit back, relax, and study the inner-workings of the Anatomy of a Sale.
