Logline: When her mother pulls her out of class to protest the court-ordered integration of her school in New Orleans in 1960, 13-year-old Louise doesn’t give the political issues much thought. Her mother Pauline is, in fact, one of those jeering “Cheerleaders who hurl racial insults at first-grader Ruby Bridges insults outside the school every morning. However, after New York editor Morgan Miller comes to stay in Pauline’s run-down boardinghouse, his quiet outrage makes Louise begin to raise doubts and questions.
